Academic Honesty

It is expected that each student will complete individual assignments and exams. It is not acceptable to share work or work together and submit the same assignment or exam. Each student must safeguard his/her passwords and coursework. Canvas and other software programs have features built in to flag cheating and plagiarism. Please be honest!

Plagiarism

Definition: A student is committing plagiarism when he or she borrows information without proper attribution or uses information, language, or work completed by others and submits it as one's own work.

  • All academic work you submit in this course must be your work and must not have been submitted for academic credit in any other course.
  • As a citizen in an academic community, you are expected to submit assignments that are your original work and that are properly cited.
  • Any form of plagiarism will negatively affect your grade.

 Academic Honesty

Snow College expects all students to uphold the highest standards of academic honesty. As a matter of principle, the college expects students to submit work that reflects their own learning, skills, and effort. A student who knowingly cheats, commits fraud, or plagiarizes is in violation of this principle. Snow College does not tolerate such violations.

Academic dishonesty or cheating includes, but is not limited to:

  • unauthorized sharing—the use, gift, or acquisition of unauthorized assistance
  • fraud—the deliberate misrepresentation of knowledge
  • plagiarism—the unacknowledged use of words or ideas taken from another

Violations will result in grade deductions and may result in dismissal from the course and college. See college catalog Links to an external site. for details concerning academic honesty.

Note:

  • Assignments are graded at the same time. With the aid of technology, it is easy to identify work that is exactly the same as another student.
  • Please be honest. Don't risk damaging your reputation or your standing at the college.

If you have any questions regarding whether the work you plan to submit is acceptable for course credit, please contact the instructor.
