Announcements

Many instructors will communicate to the entire class through Announcements. Announcements are one of the tools for instructors to share important information like reminders about assignment due dates or answers to questions. Some instructors like to post links or videos in announcements. These announcements might also be a place to highlight events that relate to the course. 

Some instructors will have announcement show on their homepage in Canvas. However, all announcements can be viewed by clicking on Announcements in the navigation menu to the left. The Announcements are ordered with the most recent first. Each announcement has a subject header and the picture of who posted it. This will help you recognize announcements from your instructor. A blue dot next to the announcement suggests that it has not been read by you. 

You can filter announcements to view only those announcements that have not been read or view all announcements. You can also search for the title, poster, or key word. 

To view an announcement, click on the subject title of the announcement. 

You might also have changed your Canvas notifications to have your announcements sent to you via email or text message. You can also view announcements in the To Do List.
