  • Define
    • Aesthetics, Aesthetic Criteria, & Aesthetic Response

  • Why dance history?
  • Name the countries known for their folk dance traditions?
  • What are the Principles of Composition?

  • World/Ritual Dance & Religion Countries (Name one dance, who danced, what they wore? why they danced) Only one country is required.

  • Describe the Shaker’s religion and how do they justify the use of dance in worship.
  • What does B.A.S.T.E stand for? And what are they? Describe three in each category.
  • When viewing a dance concert is it important to keep an open mind? Why?
  • Draw a stage (rectangle) and identify: the audience, wings, center-stage, downstage, upstage, stage right, stage left, etc.
  • What are the three tools and dancer needs and why?
  • Be prepared to watch a dance and form a critical response. Briefly Describe what new knowledge and insights you have gained from this viewing (create an image for the reader), Interpret (what do you think the meaning and/or intent of the choreography is?), Evaluate (Judge, was the choreographer successful in communicating his point of view, why? or why not)?
