Philosophy: I believe tests should accomplish two goals. Tests should assess what you know and can do; and tests should also be a learning activity as well.  I hope you know more about information after the test than before.  I'm trying to design the questions and the mode of taking the test to be as educational as possible.

On your honor as an honors student work through the whole test on your own first.  You may consult our textbook by Gleick and your own notes (that you wrote or typed yourself).  Please do not go to the internet (including Canvas) or other books/sources--I'm trusting you on this because you are trustworthy.

After you have answered all the questions on your own, you may consult with up to two other classmates on each question except the last five questions (which should continue to be your own thoughts solely).  So at that point you can modify your original answers.  But (here's one of those quirky things I dreamed up to make the test more educational), I'd like you to not use the same two people on all of the questions.  I'd really like you to consult with a wide variety of classmates on the different questions, but only two classmates on any given question.  Still closed Canvas and internet and other books.

Approach the test as a fun learning opportunity.  I've had fun making it; I hope you have fun taking it.

Questions will be mostly short answer, but there will be a variety of levels of understanding or thought required.  Some questions are recalling facts, others will ask you to think and opine.  You might even have to do arithmetic or draw a circuit.  I'll try to give you enough space on the paper to fit all the answers right there (assuming normal-sized handwriting), so try to fit your answer to the space given.  Please write legibly.

Bring the finished product to the final exam period at 9:30 am on Thursday, December 10, in our usual classroom.

Remember to have the right level of stress about this test: study and prepare, but do not over stress.

If any of this is confusing, please ask and I'll try to clarify.
